They're doing the annual "recruitment" for Edinburgh Doors Open Days, the last weekend of September. My guess is that many venues won't open this year (again...) because who knows how this coronavirus business will really pan out throughout the year. This is our chance to step in and offer open-air opportunities! Warriston will probably do it again (we've done it a couple of times). And the public loves a new venue. I've said to the Cockburn (who are enthusiastic to have cemeteries "open") that I'd consult the group. Also, it's our chance to prove the worth of an Umbrella group, by co-ordinating. For example, we could let venues such as Dalry and North Merchiston have Sunday slots, when parking restrictions are lifted. Some other grounds don't have restrictions around them, or the on-street parking is available and not-too-expensive - by Edinburgh standards! I know some groups might like to offer free guided tours, and others might prefer to give out leaflets and let people wander around at will. Warriston's early experience is that people like to come and explore, knowing that "someone will be there". Of course, in our early years, it was far more overgrown. At the moment all the Cockburn wants to know (by the middle of this month) is who is interested in participating. It's a chance to show off our cemeteries! And here's a flier from Susan.
