From ellenraissa at hotmail.com Sun Feb 4 14:57:24 2024 From: ellenraissa at hotmail.com (Ellen-Raissa) Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2024 14:57:24 +0000 Subject: [FoNC] Happy New Year! 2024 Snowdrop Walk Message-ID: Dear Friends It seems impossible to believe that it is February already, but here we are - perhaps the recent high winds have speeded up the days! The good news is that it is time for the annual snowdrop walk. Please come and join us on Sunday 11 February between 1 and 3.30pm to admire the wonderful show of snowdrops and early spring bulbs. There will be volunteers on hand to point visitors in the right direction and share some information on Galanthus. We will also have a small prize for any visitor who spots the two more unusual varieties of snowdrop that were planted last year. Regular visitors to the cemetery will have noticed that at last there has been some progress on repairing the wall by Cameron Toll. This is thanks to the initiative of Andy and Peter from the council's cemetery team. I was going to make a joke about springing into action, but I will spare you. In other news, our young volunteer Tom gained his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award and is continuing to photograph and map the cemetery monuments as part of his Silver Award. Congratulations Tom and thank you for all your hard work! Finally, we are always looking for people who would be willing to volunteer to run events or join our regular working parties. If you have an idea for an event, or would like to help out, please get in touch. Hope to see you on Sunday 11th.
